<All about trentinoin
Retin-A and Renova are two examples of products that contain trentinoin. This vitamin A derivative is one of the few skin-care ingredients proven in medical studies to reverse some signs of sun damage and aging, such as fine lines, discoloration, and rough texture. Trentinoin is a powerful exfoliant that not only sloughs off dead skin cells but stimulates faster, more efficient cell renewal. It has also been shown to stimulate new collagen growth and destroy precancerous lesions. Results are visible after 2 to 8 weeks.
Trentinoin products are available only by prescription. You should be aware that because the ingredient can be irritating, you may experience redness, stinging, or itchiness that mayor may not disappear with time. Some dermatologists believe trentinoin causes sun sensitivity, making it imperative that you wear sunscreens any time you are exposed to sunlight - something you should be doing anyway, whether or not you’re using a trentinoin product.
Using Kinerase
Kinerase rhymes with “line erase,” which happens to be one of the product’s functions. The chemical name for Kinerase is furfuryl adenine, a natural plant-derived ingredient that has been shown in clinical studies to retard the aging process of skin by reducing discoloration, fine lines, and rough texture. Unlike trentinoin and alpha hydroxy products, Kinerase is not an acid, does not irritate skin, and can be used safely with other age-fighting products, such as glycolic acid, Retin-A, and antioxidant serums. While Kinerase is not a prescription product, it is generally available only in dermatologists’ and plastic surgeons’ offices.
To see if you are sensitive to and particular treatment product, apply a small amount to the inner elbow. If you have any redness or itchiness 12 to 24 hours later, your skin may not be able to tolerate the product.
